What are the benefits?
The benefits of micro-needling can include a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging. How is the procedure done?
Prior to treatment our certified microneedling professional will apply a topical numbing cream for the patient’s increased comfort during treatment. A sterile cartridge tip containing 12 points is attached to the SkinPen. Next, precise micro injuries will occur to the skin as the SkinPen is gently pressed against the skin. The SkinPen. will glide on the skin in specific directions until the entire treatment area has been covered.
What does it feel like?
The feeling associated with the SkinPen is similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, our certified specialist’s technique and the speed of the reciprocating SkinPen tip reduces discomfort while the post-treatment instructions will help make the procedure more tolerable.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes 30–60 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.
What is the downtime?
Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin. The total healing time depends on the skins condition and the treatment area. Typically, patients are pinkish-red up to 2 to 4 days. Some patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours.
When will I see results?
Many patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results continue to improve up to six months after the treatment series as collagen production continues.
How many treatments are needed?
In order to achieve optimal results, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 3–4 treatments spaced about 4–6 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars, your skin care provider may recommend 6–8 sessions at 4–6 week intervals.
